At the 2024 World Dairy Expo, GEA showcased a range of innovative dairy solutions aimed at improving efficiency and herd management.

From Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven health monitoring to advanced milking systems, GEA’s latest products offered cutting-edge technology for modern dairy farms.

Among the highlights was GEA’s acquisition of CattleEye Ltd., an AI system that detects lameness and body condition scores in cows.

Other notable innovations included the DigiFlow milk meter for real-time milk monitoring, the ergonomic DigiTron milking control system and the DCPro dairy control for complete parlor oversight.

In addition, GEA trotted out its Kommand Lux, a non-iodine low-rip barrier teat dip. Its ready-to-use formula forms a viscous barrier on teats to protect against mastitis-causing pathogens between milkings.

With the GEA DairyRobot R9600 automated batch milking system, cows are milked in groups at fixed milking times using a row of box robots, simulating a conventional parlor setup.

This milking style significantly reduces the need for several well-trained people to perform cow prep procedures and handle milking tasks during every milking shift.

Unlike a parlor, this system does not require anyone to be present in the milking area, reducing labor costs and the challenge of finding reliable workers.

It also gives the dairies the flexibility to upgrade their milking facilities while using existing barns, holding pens and sorting areas.

"The World Dairy Expo was even more signficant as we celebrated 20 years of sponsoring the ice cream stand to raise money for local Futuer Farmers of America programs. We also honored the 100th anniversary of the SURGE bucket milker with a commemorative display," Robin Matthayasack, director of marketing and communications for GEA North America, said.

These milestones and our latest product innovations showcased GEA's commitment to the next century of dairy farming."
